Jos based Child Cyber Protection (CC-Pro) organisation will today host a webinar on staying safe while online. The event is focusing on young people, particularly adolescent, who make up a substantial population of internet users in Nigeria.

The theme of the virtual conference is ‘Explore! Expand! Stay Safe Online’. Speakers include Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, Barrister Rose Pwajok, and Barrister Wilson Nanle.
The legal experts will be speaking on the antics of sexual predators online and laws protecting internet users; the dangers of fake news, hate speech and how not to unwittingly run foul of statutes forbidding using the internet to propagate hate or fake news.
Dr Yilwatda, ICT expert and INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Benue State, will offer tips on how to stay safe from fraudsters and cyber crooks.
The webinar chair is Olusegun Oruame, CEO of Knowhow Media International, publishers of IT Edge News.
“The forum will allow young people to uncover laws that protect them while online and how some things they do online could get them into real trouble,” said CEO/Co-Founder of CC-Pro, Delmwa Gogwim.
Since its establishment, the CC-Pro has initiated a number of programmes to educate on the benefits and dangers of the internet. It recently held a forum on exposure of young people to sexual predators online
The CC-Pro has also helped to raise awareness on the inherent dangers from hate and fake news, indoctrination on dangerous ideologies and practices that could impact on societal moral fabric, peaceful coexistence, and progress. The CC-Pro campaigns focus on young people vulnerable to cyber influence.
