Having had the privilege of working closely with you as the pioneer Director General of the Plateau Information Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), I have witnessed firsthand your passion for technology and innovation. Under my supervision as the then Commissioner of Science and Technology, your establishment of CODE PLATEAU, which successfully graduated cohorts from 1.0 to 6.0, was a groundbreaking achievement. This initiative not only placed Plateau State on the national ICT map but also empowered countless young people with essential digital skills.
Leadership at PICTDA was exemplary
Your leadership at PICTDA during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic was exemplary. As virtual meetings became the norm, your innovative approach ensured that Plateau State was not left behind in the digital revolution. Your efforts to take startups to the Gulf International Technology Exhibit (GITEX) in Dubai showcased your commitment to scaling PICTDA’s objectives and further demonstrated your global vision for technology development in Nigeria.
Your unwavering focus on youth empowerment, particularly through coding, robotics, and other cutting-edge technologies, has made you a popular figure among the younger generation. You have consistently shown that you understand their language and aspirations, making you not just a leader, but a mentor to many.
Your appointment as the head of DBI did not come as a surprise to those of us who know your capabilities. It is a recognition of your years of hard work, innovative mindset, and dedication to advancing technology in Nigeria. You are indeed a round peg in a round hole, perfectly suited for this pivotal role.
