NCS goes to Gombe

  •  Prof Osofisan, Provost, Nigeria Computer Society, enters Nigerian Women Hall of Fame

This June and July, major ICT events will be hosted in Sokoto and Gombe for the first time to set a new direction for ICT penetration and adoption in the North West and North East of Nigeria.

In Abuja, known for hosting several international ICT event, the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), will induct Professor Adenike Osofisan, Provost, Nigeria Computer Society, College of Fellows into the Nigerian Women Hall of Fame. The induction holds on June 10, 2019.

Gombe is playing host to the 14th International Conference of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) with the theme: “Smart Nations, Digital Economies and Meaningful Lives.” The event will hold from July 16 to 18, 2019 at The International Conference Centre, Gombe, Gombe state, Nigeria.

The NCS conference is the largest annual assembly of IT professionals and stakeholders in Nigeria

The conference traditionally offers new insights in the industry. This year’s programme are scheduled to also offer participants first hand experiences and practices in the artificial intelligence, IoT, digital transformation, data innovation, and smart government among others.

The conference also offers opportunities  to leverage academic, research works on ICT, explore policy frameworks, business partnership and networking.

Osofisan enters Nigerian Women Hall of Fame

On June 10, the National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) will induct Professor Adenike Osofisan FNCS, Provost, Nigeria Computer Society, College of Fellows into the Nigerian Women Hall of Fame.

Osofisan, the first Nigerian woman to be awarded a Ph.D. in Computer science and the first African woman to become a Professor in Computer science, is being honoured for her numerous contributions and distinguished accomplishments in the sector.
