President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State as a member of the Presidential Council on Digital Economy and e-Government.

Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Ibrahim Addra, revealed this week in Lafia, Nasarawa state capital, in an official statement.
He said the notice of the appointment is contained in a letter signed by Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.
According to the CPS, the letter stated that the constitution of the Presidential Council is in an effort to implement the National Digital Economy Policy (NDEPS) and the Nigerian E-government Master Plan (NEGMP).
Abdullahi Sule, a trained engineer in the field of mechanical and industrial technology is an entrepreneur, businessman and politician. He was elected the Governor of Nasarawa State in the 2019 Governorship election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The governor is expected to join other members of the Presidential Council on Digital Economy and e-Government to chart the pathway for the implementation of the NDEPS developed in to help the country leverage digital technologies across sectors.
Part of the agenda of the Council is to help accelerate growth and modernize the Nigerian economy; bolster a digital-led growth strategy for the Nigerian economy and advance the objectives of the ‘Smart Nigeria Digital Economy Project’.
The objective of the ‘Smart Nigeria Digital Economy Project’ is to solve efficiency problems and create leap frog opportunities in the economy, improve competitiveness and foster technology development and innovation more generally.
According to Pantami, Nasarawa State is critical to the success of Nigeria’s Digital Economy Agenda. Governor Abdullahi Sule and other members of the Council are to be inaugurated by the chairman of the council President Muhammadu Buhari on a date to be communicated.
