Nigeria is set to host GITEX Nigeria 2025, a premier tech event on the continent, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) on May 30th, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.

The event, which is expected to bring together over 30,000 attendees and more than 4,000 startups from across the continent and the rest of the world, will be the largest gathering of digital economy actors in Africa’s history.

Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President at DWTC, expressed enthusiasm about working with NITDA to organize an event focused on the great potentials for technology and innovation in Nigeria.

Director General of NITDA, Mallam Kachifu Inuwa Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of GITEX Nigeria 2025 as aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the vision of NITDA to leverage global partnerships to foster growth in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem, regarded as the continent’s most robust.

Minister of State for Health, Tunji Alausa, who was present at the event and a headlined speaker at Gitex Africa, said, “Get ready for a transformative experience filled with innovation, collaboration, and the future of African tech.

The MoU was signed with global media brands in attendance including the BBC. The event will serve as a platform for Nigerian tech companies and startups to showcase their innovations to a global audience, fostering partnerships, attracting investment, and accelerating the growth of the sector.

With GITEX Nigeria 2025 on the horizon, the Nigerian tech ecosystem is poised for a significant boost in visibility, investment, and growth, building on the success of the 2024 edition in Marrakech, Morocco.
