The Borno Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (BICTDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering partnerships that drive digital transformation and economic growth in the region.

During a recent meeting with representatives from ZOA International and the European Union (EU) delegation, Engr. Kabiru Wanori, Executive Secretary of BICTDA, emphasized the agency’s dedication to building a robust digital ecosystem. This is to both benefit individuals and bolster Borno State’s economy.

The meeting, held at BICTDA’s headquarters, was part of ZOA International’s visit to assess progress and strengthen collaboration with the ICT development agency. A central focus of the visit was the ongoing “Train the Trainer” program on digital skills.

Initiatives align with mission of enhancing community resilience and sustainability

The scheme is a key component of ZOA’s EU-funded initiative aimed at equipping local communities with essential digital knowledge. Organised in collaboration with BICTDA, it underscores the agency’s efforts to promote digital transformation across Borno State.

Mr. Antony Caleesious, Country Director of ZOA International, led the delegation and expressed deep appreciation for BICTDA’s pivotal role in advancing digital development in the region. He noted that BICTDA’s initiatives align closely with ZOA’s mission of enhancing community resilience and sustainability.

Mr. Caleesious highlighted the significance of the digital skills program, which has empowered local trainers to effectively disseminate valuable knowledge within their communities.

Partnership will enhance livelihoods through technology-driven solutions

Miss Corien Herweijer, Food Security and Livelihood Adviser at ZOA International, further emphasized the collaboration’s importance in advancing Borno State’s broader development objectives. She praised the Borno State Government’s ambitious 25-year Development Plan, recognizing how BICTDA’s three-year strategic roadmap, built on five key pillars, complements these long-term goals. Miss Herweijer expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential to enhance livelihoods through technology-driven solutions.

Mr. Godwin Domic, EU Project Manager for the digital skills program, reiterated the European Union’s commitment to supporting Borno State’s digital transformation. He emphasized the importance of developing Borno into a thriving digital hub and assured continued EU support for BICTDA’s initiatives.

In response, Engr. Kabiru Wanori reaffirmed BICTDA’s dedication to fostering partnerships that drive digital transformation and economic growth. He highlighted the agency’s ongoing investments in building a digital ecosystem that will not only benefit individuals but also contribute to the overall economic development of Borno State.
