APSCA 2022 is Africa’s momment to strengthen its public sector, says Vice President of Ghana, H.E Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as continent’s top civil servants and leaders across sectors set to gather in Accra in May, 2022.

The Vice President of Ghana, H.E Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has described the 3rd edition of the Africa Public Sector Conference & Awards (APSCA 2022)  and Leadership Workshop as  Africa’s momment to strenthen its public service and meet the increasingly complex demands of the 21st cenury.

Bawumia will be hosting delegations of top civil servants from across Africa in Accra, May 11-13th inside the Plush Kempinski Hotel, to help strengthen the continent’s public sector leaders, often ignored in the leadership debate. The Vice President is the chief host for the APSCA 2022 with the theme: “Repositioning Africa’s Public Sector for Sustainable Development.”

Accra is headquarters of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and Africa Digital Economy Forum (ADEF); all of which offer a ready platform to support Africa’s need for a unified approach at addressing challenges of its public sector as the engine room to drive its development agenda, according to the Vice President, an economist and former central banker.

APSCA first held in Kigali, Rwanda, and will this year in Accra, sustain the tradition of feature thought leaders to share ideas, discuss the newest trends, economic issues and experiences from across different countries. It has a Leadership Workshop for the 2022 edition.

Delegations of senior civil servants and top public sector leaders from across Africa are confirmed as guests of Vice President Bawumia at the three-day event. These top decision-makers from Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Gambia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Rwanda and some other Middle Eastern countries. Already confirmed delegations from across Africa include the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation (Nigeria) to be led by the Auditor-General for the Federation (AuGF) and Chairperson, African Union Board of External Auditors, Aghughu Adolphus A. JP.

APSCA 2022 is focusing is exploring themes around public sector productivity and how Africa can leverage a mix of technologies and other emerging global trends to improve public service delivery to more Africans.

More than 300 delegates are expected to gather around the themes of impacts, challenges and prospects of public sector delivery as well as transitional leadership issues in Africa.

APSCA 2022 features main conference designed to  energize the continent’s public sector to better results and a theme-workshop focusing on closing the skill and leadership gaps to sustain a virile public sector in a continent rapidly undergoing political, digital and economic transitions in the post-pandemic era.

“Africa’s great chance to leapfrog its economy rests on a virile public sector and ability to leverage digital technology. There’s no better time to make a unifying call for this opportunity than now at the Africa Public Sector Conference & Awards (APSCA 2022) affording the continent’s public sector leaders to critically examine the way forward,” said Vice President Bawumia.

APSCA is organized by InstinctWave in collaboration with the Office of the Head of Civil Service. Event has also announced the call for entries for nominations for the three-day event.

ADEF-APSCA THEME WORKSHOP

Also, through the support of the ADEF and the Ghanaian Government, APSCA is anchoring a workshop designed to foster capacity, exposure, and a peer-to-peer (P2P) participation for young leaders across the continent.

Theme workshop is intensive in contents and structured to help skill up and convert Africa’s growing large pool of young people into leaders across sectors. Attendees are given Certificate of Participation.

The ADEF-APSCA theme workshop will address Africa’s widening gap in people-development and absence of curated leadership notably in driving productivity across sectors.
