This innovative initiative aims to revolutionize Africa’s mining sector by empowering tech-enabled, youth-led startups to address critical challenges through advanced technology and sustainable practices.
This flagship programme of the Timbuktoo MineTech Hub, the first of its kind on the continent, underscores a bold vision to foster operational efficiency and sustainability in mining. It offers startups access to global networks, high-tech tools, mentorship, and financial resources, aiming to unlock unprecedented opportunities for socio-economic development across Africa.
Call for Applications and Funding Details
Applications for the Timbuktoo MineTech Accelerator Programme will open on January 9, 2025, and close on February 13, 2025. Selected startups will gain access to a comprehensive acceleration programme, including mentorship, global networking opportunities, and $25,000 in equity-free funding to refine and scale their solutions.
Startups from across Africa are encouraged to apply, particularly those led by women, persons with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.

The MineTech Accelerator Programme seeks to:

- Acceleration Phase:
Selected startups will progress to a tailored acceleration phase, including mentorship, product refinement, and strategic guidance. - Timbuktoo MineTech Hub:
Hosted at NISIR, the Hub will facilitate collaboration with regulators, corporations, and innovation hubs. Outreach efforts will include webinars, social media campaigns, and curated events. - Post-Grant Support:
Startups will receive ongoing guidance and resources to scale their solutions and maximize impact.
