Amid a turbulent global financial landscape, the need for African investors to back local enterprises has become more urgent than ever. Despite growing global interest in Africa’s economic potential, a significant funding gap remains for African startups. As many investors pull back due to global market volatility, African entrepreneurs are facing increasing difficulty in securing the capital needed to launch and scale their businesses.
To address this challenge, the 11th Angel Fair Africa, set for November 7-8, 2024, offers a platform for African investors to invest in home-grown businesses that understand the continent’s unique needs and demonstrate potential for large-scale growth and impact. This premier event will bring together businesses and promoters from various sectors including fintech, healthtech, edtech, e-commerce, agritech, and cleantech, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for enterprises and investors focused on African markets.
Angel Fair Africa connects accelerators, incubators, emerging businesses, and investors across Africa, facilitating deal-making opportunities. Hosted at the Two Rivers International Finance and Innovation Center (TRFIC), the event has secured partnerships with organisations like the Africa Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA), East Africa Venture Capital Association (EAVCA), iHub, Antler, Growth Africa, and Startup Bootcamp Africa, alongside sponsorship from the DRK Foundation.
“We are proud to support this event because of the critical role it plays in connecting early-stage local and international investors with entrepreneurs, fostering meaningful deal discussions,” said Kanini Mutooni, Africa Managing Director of the DRK Foundation.
Christine Maina, CEO of EAVCA, emphasised the importance of events like Angel Fair Africa, stating, “These gatherings create a pipeline for later-stage investors in our organization to invest in startups once they’ve matured.”
With 20 startups and scaleups confirmed to pitch and a diverse group of seasoned investors in attendance, Winnie Kimathi, Event Lead of Angel Fair Africa, is confident the 2024 event will generate direct investments and partnerships, driving tangible impact across the African entrepreneurial ecosystem.
