The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has denied reports that its servers were hacked.
The digital identity agency in a statement asserted that its servers remain secured and meet the benchmark for highest international security levels.
“The National Identity Management Commission wishes to inform the public that its servers were not breached but are fully optimised at the highest international security levels as the custodian of the mod important national database for Nigeria,” said ”Director General, NIMC, Aliyu Aziz in a statement made public by the commission’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke.
Aziz further stated: “NIMC has gone to great lengths to ensure the nation’s database is adequately secured and protected especially given the spate of cyber-attacks on networks across the world.”
The alleged hacker has also cancelled out his earlier claim. He said he did not hack into a server from Nigeria government.
His post noted: “Hi Guys, my recent post about open S3 bucket, I want to say that, that server is not from Nigeria’s government, it’s from @TecnoSRC and, there is company’s private data nothing else, and I’ve reported it straight after finding it, and @TechnoSRC just fixed it within hours.”
