Public-Private Partnership to empower over 25,000 Nigerians in the digital economy.

Airtel Africa Foundation has officially fulfilled its ₦1 billion pledge to support the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. A major initiative aimed at equipping young Nigerians with high-demand digital skills,3MTT will help drive economic growth and global competitiveness.

At a formal ceremony in Abuja, Airtel Africa Foundation Chairman, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, presented the ₦1 billion grant cheque to Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy. He reinforced Airtel’s commitment to accelerating digital transformation and youth empowerment in Nigeria.

“This is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce and prosperity. We are proud to support a programme that equips our youth with the skills they need to lead in the digital economy, creating opportunities locally and globally,” said Dr. Ogunsanya.

Strengthening Nigeria’s Digital Workforce

The 3MTT initiative, launched under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, seeks to train and empower millions of Nigerians.  The initiative offers technical expertise in software development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, AI, and other emerging technologies.

Acknowledging Airtel’s significant contribution, Minister Tijani emphasized the vital role of private sector collaboration in achieving Nigeria’s digital transformation goals.

“Today, we received a ₦1 billion grant from Airtel Africa Foundation to support our 3MTT programme, enabling us to train and empower over 25,000 Nigerians with in-demand technical skills.

The grant will cover hands-on training, community engagement, and job placement initiatives—all geared towards strengthening Nigeria’s digital workforce and aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Tijani stated.

Airtel Africa’s support for the 3MTT programme aligns with its broader commitment to bridging the digital skills gap in Africa. It will help in unlocking economic opportunities, and fostering innovation.

Through this funding, the initiative will focus on:

  • Hands-on digital skills training for thousands of young Nigerians.
  • Community engagement programmes to build a strong network of tech talent.
  • Job placement initiatives to connect trainees with employment opportunities.
