Africa has the opportunity to harness the digital economy as a driver of growth and innovation, said President of the Africa Digital Economy Forum (ADEF) which is hosting the ADEF Digital Economy Webinar today, June 8 2022.

The June 2022 edition of the “ADEF series”  on Africa digital economy is drawing tremendous number of stakeholders across the continent already signed on to participate in the monthly event,

The webinar holds via zoom on Wednesday, June 8 between 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM  (WAT — West Africa Time for Lagos, Cotonou, etc); 12:00 PM to 02:00 PM  ( EAT — Eastern Africa Time for Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, etc); 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM  (GMT — Greenwich Mean Time for Accra, Freetown, Banjul, etc); 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM  (SAST — South Africa Standard Time for J’burg,  Cape Town, Harare, Kigali, etc).

This edition is focusing on investment opportunities in building and promoting a sustainable African digital economy agenda for an assured future.

The ADEF series is organised by the ADEF, a non-profit initiative aimed at the realization of full digitization of Africa’s economies.

Designed to further raise awareness on Africa’s capacity for shared digital prosperity in a technology-driven economy, the June edition of its monthly “ADEF series” is drawing notable stakeholders from South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Kenya and Rwanda amongst others.

ADEF was launched in the first quarter of 2021 for policy makers, technology and service providers focusing on the transformative powers of Africa’s steadily growing and booming digital economy.

The theme for June is: “Investing in Africa Digital Economy, building the future today.”  The event will explore and advocate for the right policies and  opportunities to ensure the realization of full pace African digital economy.

Africa is gradually making its transition to technology-enabled economies. In the last two decades, the continent has witnessed a rash of investments, policies and regulations targeting to improve the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure environment. The results have been a mix of blessings and disappointments. But Africa marches on.

There is a conscious drive-in government to lay the foundations for a vibrant digital economy driven by millions of the continent’s young innovative youths.

According to research, Africa’s digital economy will hover over $300 billion by 2025. The increasing digitalization of the economy is creating expansive opportunities across sectors with greater potential for more inclusive growth development. It’s in the above ADEF Series seeks to build an environment open to business growth and youth empowerment.

ADEF’s President, Teniola said the event is targeted at deepening Africa digital economy which he described as a major force in promoting youth empowerment and in combating African unemployment.  He posited that African countries must embrace digital towards to emerge technology-enabled economies.

ADEF, CEO, Mr. Akin Naphtal, added that the “ADEF Series” will bring together policymakers and stakeholders in the tech enabling ecosystems to build a sustainable digital-driven economy in Africa.
