In a bold move, the Accra Institute of Technology (AIT) has committed to becoming one of the first universities worldwide to fully integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all facets of its operations. The groundbreaking initiative was announced by AIT President, Professor Clement Dzidonu, during the institution’s 20th graduation ceremony.

“We are at the dawn of an AI revolution, and universities across the world are exploring ways to integrate these technologies into their core functions,” Professor Dzidonu remarked.
Dzidonu emphasized the transformative impact AI will have on higher education. He outlined AIT’s strategy to lead this shift by embedding AI across 12 critical stages of the student lifecycle. These stages include curriculum development, program delivery, assessments, research, and alumni engagement.
AIT: ‘AI integration a necessity in 21st-century educational landscape’
AIT is a leading technological university. It sees AI integration not as a trend but a necessity in the 21st-century educational landscape. The university’s vision is to position itself as a global leader in science, technology, and innovation. All these are to enhance student learning experiences and preparing graduates for an AI-driven economy and society.
“By integrating AI into every aspect of what we do, we are not only enhancing the educational experience for our students but positioning AIT as a leader in the intelligent and innovative delivery of higher education,” said Professor Dzidonu.
The AIT Board of Trustees, comprising six former Vice Chancellors, is spearheading the development of policies to guide the integration of AI and emerging technologies. This initiative aims to ensure AIT graduates possess the skills, knowledge, and adaptability to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven world.
Top private institution in Ghana
AIT’s commitment to embracing cutting-edge technology highlights its ongoing efforts to stay at the forefront of innovation. The university has been recognised as the top private institution in Ghana for four consecutive years. It has continued to pioneer efforts in technological education and research since its founding.
Accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), AIT offers both campus-based and Open University programs in collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the Open University of Malaysia. The collaboration is helping provide undergraduate and postgraduate education across engineering, IT, and business disciplines.
