Held from October 14-18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), GITEX GLOBAL 2024 marks its 44th edition as the world’s largest and highest-rated tech event. This year’s event hosts over 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, 1,200 investors, and government representatives from more than 180 countries, providing a platform for tech innovation on a global scale.

On Wednesday, tens of thousands of attendees explored how Abu Dhabi is shaping the future AI economy, with local enterprises and startups leading the charge. Aligning with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 and the UAE National Strategy for AI 2031, the city’s tech community—comprising over 400 specialized AI companies—demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting AI-driven socio-economic development.

Abu Dhabi’s Government Unveils AI-Powered Solutions

The Abu Dhabi government showcased a range of innovative solutions, including GovGPT, an AI-based knowledge agent designed to assist government employees with instant access to essential information and policy guidance. Another highlight was the launch of TAMM 3.0, an AI-powered integrated platform offering more than 800 government services and personalized experiences for users, with voice command capabilities available in Arabic and English.

Showcasing Next-Gen Mobility and Healthcare Solutions

Abu Dhabi Police revealed the ‘Magnum MK1,’ an autonomous, bulletproof 4×4 patrol vehicle designed for surveillance, patrol duties, and secure transportation of detainees. Equipped with advanced 360-degree camera coverage and a bespoke monitoring system, the vehicle marks a significant advancement in digitalized law enforcement.

The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) presented the EAV24, a next-generation autonomous race car set to compete in the upcoming Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League at Yas Marina Circuit. Built from sustainable bio-composite materials and featuring a design inspired by AI-driven data, the car represents the future of AI-powered mobility.

In healthcare, the Capital Health Screening Centre, supported by M42, announced plans to perform 2,000 AI-assisted chest X-rays to screen for tuberculosis—a 10-fold increase in efficiency compared to traditional methods.

Pioneering AI Research and Commercialization

At the event, VentureOne, the commercialization arm of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), unveiled AI71, an enterprise AI solution utilizing TII’s Falcon model, currently topping the Hugging Face Leaderboard for pre-trained large language models. VentureOne Acting CEO Reda Nidhakou emphasized the mission to transform TII’s cutting-edge research into commercial products that address global challenges.
