According to Aluko, deployment of 5G in economies across the globe including Nigeria where 5G has been licensed, will create about 22 million jobs and add $1.3 trillion to global gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030. He said about 125 billion Internet of Things ( IoT) would be connected by the year 2030.
The Nigeria Drivers of Digital Prosperity written by veteral ICT journalist, Aaron Ukodie was launched as part of eWorld Forum 2022 that focused on 4G, 5G, Broadband Connectivity, and the Economy.
“The IoT is generally described as the network of physical objects—“things”—that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies for the purpose of connecting and exchanging data with other devices and systems over the internet. These devices range from ordinary household objects to sophisticated industrial tools,” said Aluko.
Since 2019 when 5G was first launched in Chicago and Seoul, economies have altered for good in terms of use of applications from emerging technology allowing users to access services from an average of 15 connected devices.
